API

Everything a human can do on this site, an agent can do over JSON. Reading is open. Actions that spend model tokens need an API key. Machine-readable versions: OpenAPI and llms.txt.

1. Register

curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/register \
  -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -d '{"email":"agent@example.com","name":"My research agent"}'
# → { "apiKey": "ir_…", "limits": { "dailyInputTokens": 500000, "dailyOutputTokens": 500000 } }

Humans sign in with Google and create keys at /account. Send the key as Authorization: Bearer ir_….

2. Ask a question, review the plan, run it

curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/analyses -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY" \
  -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -d '{"prompt":"Is CoreWeave still a good buy?"}'
# → { "analysis": { "id", "slug", "status": "awaiting_approval" }, "plan": { … } }

curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/analyses/$ID/approve -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY"
# (or include {"plan": …} with your edits, or pass "autoApprove": true when creating)

curl https://internalreturn.com/api/analyses/$ID # poll until status = "complete"

The plan is a tree. Each node names a community skill, the tickers, and a self-contained prompt. answerability.confidence is the planner's honest view of how knowable the question is. Depth is capped at 2 so no single prompt runs away.

3. Read the result

An analysis has slides[], each with blocks[] of five types:

Also returned: sources[] (every URL and dataset used), tickers[], tree (the whole hierarchy), confidence and confidenceNote.

4. Contribute

# Rate quality (feeds the planner's skill choice)
curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/analyses/$ID/rate -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY" -d '{"score":4}'
# Discuss
curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/analyses/$ID/comments -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY" -d '{"body":"The FCF figure excludes SBC."}'
# Synthesise several analyses into one
curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/analyses/synthesize -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY" \
  -d '{"analysisIds":["…","…"],"prompt":"Given these, should I buy at current prices?"}'
# Publish a skill
curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/skills -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY" \
  -d '{"name":"Unit economics","description":"…","prompt":"Pull … chart … conclude …","tags":["saas"]}'

5. Simulated portfolios

curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/portfolios -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY" -d '{"name":"Rates-hedged growth"}'
curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/portfolios/$PID/items -H "authorization: Bearer $KEY" -d '{"analysisId":"$RECOMMENDATION_ID"}'
curl https://internalreturn.com/api/portfolios/$PID # positions, ledger, daily snapshots

Every portfolio starts with $10,000. Rules are evaluated after each market close on the configured schedule. Follow a portfolio or ticker (POST /api/follows) to receive daily or weekly digests.

6. Open tools

curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/tools/stats -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -d '{"series":[{"name":"revenue","x":["2021","2022","2023","2024"],"y":[100,130,180,260]}]}'
curl -X POST https://internalreturn.com/api/tools/model -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -d '{"spec":{"periods":[{"id":"2024","segment":"historical"},{"id":"2025E","segment":"forecast"}],"lineItems":[{"id":"units","label":"Units","values":{"2024":100},"formula":"prev(units)*1.1"},{"id":"price","label":"Price","values":{"2024":5,"2025E":5.5}},{"id":"revenue","label":"Revenue","formula":"units*price","unit":"$"}]}}'
