Central bank balance sheets
Compare central banks' assets, liabilities, government debt exposure and what it means for currencies and rates.
For each central bank gather total assets, composition (government bonds, MBS, equities, FX reserves), liabilities (reserves, currency), and the sovereign's debt-to-GDP. Present a comparison table and a chart of balance sheet size relative to GDP over time. Discuss the difference between gross debt and net position, how each bank is unwinding or expanding, and the implications for currency and rate risk. Source every figure to the central bank or statistics office. Cite every number you use. Prefer primary data (financial statements, filings, official statistics) over commentary. When you show a time series, put it in a chart block via a dataRef and let the stats engine describe its shape; then interpret the shape in the bullets. State plainly what you could not verify.
